Madame Ur y sus Hombres ...transmitted on 09.04.12

"Miedo de mi Grandiosidad
Miedo de mi Tranquilidad
Miedo de mi Poder y mi Amabilidad"

Madame Ur Y Sus Hombres it's musical group from Tijuana, but their sound is cosmopolitan, the sound flies to all musical genres that are "cool," from Jazz to Cabaret, from Rock to Trip Hop and in between this trip, you can find several flavors of various musical styles, that makes the listener a passenger of this sonic vessel driven by Azzul Monraz, Toto Zuñiga and Joel Castillo.

I had a chance to interview Azzul and she the most simple and down to earth woman I know, nothing like her alter ego Madame Ur, a sultry temptress that loves to chew man for breakfast and spit them out as used bubble gum, and her voice; her voice is a drug that let's you dive into a beautiful world that transport you to a different time. Hope you like this show as much as I and please look for them at this link http://madameur.com/, I know you'll thank me later. And the playlist is...

"Well it's a rockin' world, make no mistake about
It's a shockin' world,
that could be what's so great about
A It's a rockin' world,
there ain't nothing fake about it"

Well there are few people of the caliber of JOE STRUMMER, he was the leader of the Band that Matter, The Clash, here he change the way people looked at music, not only as a sign to rebel but also to think, smart lyrics and guts on every note sang, I consider myself a Fan of the truth and sincerity of his words, the Band call it quits on 1986, but he continue his musical career with bands such as The 101ersLatino Rockabilly WarThe Mescaleros and The Pogues. But on December 22nd, his life come to a stop due to victim of an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. But this didn't stop the legacy left by him. Entrevista con el Vampiro ...transmitted on 08.07.12

"Echale Vampiro!"

Very few Artists can have the privilege of playing with 2 of the most important Bands of Mexico, guitarist César López Garcia, most famously known as "El Vampiro", can say this he started with various Bands, being the most important Azul Violeta, but he hit the big times when he was picked by Mana , and he was immortalized on the song "Me Vale" with the phrase "Echale Vampiro!" But this was not enough and he was called by Jaguares to play with them, this was a milestone, because even thou Mana was a biggest popular act in Mexico, Jaguares came from the ashes of Caifanes, the seminal band for all your rockers from 90s. He came to Jaguares and now, he even has a side Project called FLORES ACIDAS. So take the time and listen to his music and a very sincere talk, about music, politics and The Beatles. "Mother should I run for President?

Mother should I trust the government?"

Many of you may know that elections were held in Mexico recently, these were very tough on all Mexicans, because of the  passion they had on their beloved Political Parties. Frankly, I'm not very fond of politics in Mexico or elsewhere, because of the simple fact that I don't thrust politician. But I did notice people losing friendship over this issue, that's why I decided to make this show and chill everybody and let this matter alone and focusing on something different and less passionate. Hope you enjoy the show and relax for at least 40 minutes. And the list is…

My Stats in Blogger...

I've been checking out the stats from my blog and notice that most people that visit it are not from Mexico, and not even from Spanish speaking countries, this segment represent only 26% of the visitors, the rest are from other countries 64% are from the United States and then from Japan, UK, Russia, Denmark, France and Japan. Demo vs Final Version ...transmitted on 06.19.12

"So pull on your hair, pull on your pout,
Cut the conversation, Just open your Mouth"

Here is the second show about the Demo vs Final Version, here in Radio Union we love to do this show, because for me it is very interesting to see how a song changes from the first conception to the final product and the bands presented here are very popular but all of them start at the same place, somebody have and idea, they pitched it to the Band and then recorded so they don't forget and they take it to the studio to pour some fairy dust and have an awesome result! And here's the playlist...

The Smiths - There's  a Light
Death Cab for Cutie - Talking Bird
Lowlife - River Of Woe
The Cure - Fascination Street
Mew - 156

My Playlist ...transmitted on 06.12.12

"She had an horror of rooms she was tired you can't hide beat,
When I looked in her eyes they were blue but nobody home"

I created this show in honor of Myself, Ha! I just wanted to put here some of my favorite bands and how each of them influence me to the music that I now put into RadioUnion. I remember coming from school  at age 6 and putting the The Beatles, my brother had about 12 albums and I love to listen to them and also The Rolling Stones were a big part of my start of listening to music. Then I started to listen to my own music, Bands like XTC and The Clash, Joe Jackson, and The Smiths. Then came Cocteau Twins, here I started to love women voice… Liz Freaser is awesome to listen and live it's very impressive how she turns her voice into and instrument and gets through your skin. Then came Goth music with bands like Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Lowlife and I started playing drums with a cover band of, of course, Joy Division and Bauhaus. in the 90s Industrial music made a big impact to the music I listen to, Skinny Puppy, Front 242, Laibach, Mussolini's Headkick and others; in Mexico City I just to go to a Dance Bar that on Friday's was all Industrial music, one night I got 20 bruises… happy times! But it started to change my mood… so listening to a Nettwerk Sampler I heard Sara McLachlan and I knew she was the antidote. After that I had a break from music and 8 years ago I started listening to new music and then came the Radio Show and 2 bands capture right away my attention first Mew and Beach House with their last album. So here it is!

The Beatles - A day in a Life [Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band '67]
XTC - Senses working Overtime [English Settlement '82]
The Clash - London Calling [London Calling '79]
The Smiths - You just haven't earned it yet, baby [Louder than bombs '87]
Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll [Blue Bell Knoll '88]
Joe Jackson - Scary Monsters [Live Music Europe 2010 '10]
Bauhaus - Spirit [1979-1983 Volume Two '86] - Spirit
Skinny Puppy - Smothered Hope [Remission '84]
Sarah McLachlan [Fumbling Towards Ecstasy '93] - Fear
Mew - Beach [Eggs Are Funny '10]
Beach House - Lazuli [Bloom '12]

BICYCLES ...transmitted on 06.05.12

"How could I forget to mention, the bicycle is a good invention, Sitting there in a silent movie, Beside the only girl who really ever knew me"

As a loyal Bicycle rider, when I was in College I've always I wanted to have a group of enthusiasts to ride along, but back then I just rode and played drums. Now a little bit older I found this group and it's called Mxli Bici, what they do is ride 4 times a week through the City and this is not an easy task due to the lack of driver's education and respect for the cyclists, I can say that ridding alone in Mexicali has become an extreme sport, so this is why I did the show in honor of the BYCICLE. Just like me there are plenty of artists who love ridding on a bike, from this list below I believe that Lily Allen's song better represents what goes on while ridding, you see everything that you can see while in a car and of course there's more freedom, you help the environment and you do exercise, What more can we want?  And the playlist is…

Queen - Bicycle Race [Jazz '78]
The Dukes Of Stratosphere - Bike Ride To The Moon [Chips From The Chocolate Fireball '87]
Be Your Own Pet - Bicycle, Bicycle, You Are My Bicycle [Be Your Own Pet ' 06]

Ian Curtis R.I.P ...transmitido en 05.15.12

"Caressing the marble and stone,
Love that was special for one,
The waste in the fever I heat,
How I wish you were here with me now.

Body that curls in and dies,
And shares that awful daylight,
Warm like a dog round your feet,
How I wish you were here with me now.

Hangman looks round as he waits,
Cord stretches tight then it breaks,
Someday we will die in your dreams,
How I wish we were here with you now"
